Scholarship Overview
This scholarship is for high school seniors and current college students who are graduating or graduated from a high school in one of the following Michigan counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Lenawee, Washtenaw, Livingston, or St. Clair. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be fatherless through either death or permanent termination of parental rights while the applicant was still a minor. Applicants cannot have an adoptive father at the time of application. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA; pursue a degree in law, nursing, medicine, or dentistry; and demonstrate financial need. They must also demonstrate leadership and character through extracurricular activities, service in school and community, volunteer involvement, and paid work experience. Scholarship recipients must attend a nonprofit, public Michigan university full-time. Preference will be given to candidates between the ages of 17 and 27 and those who lived in a qualifying county throughout high school.http://cfsem.org/sites/cfsem.org/files/schureman-2012.pdf
