Detroit Omega Foundation Scholarship




Beginning January 26  thru April 15 we will accept applications for three scholarships to qualified candidates. Previous awards have been for $5000 each, payable over a four year period.. Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
·         Must be an African-American male resident of Wayne County.
·         Must graduate by June, 2014 and begin college by September, 2014.
·         Be admitted to a historical black college/university (HBCU) and submit proof of admittance.
·         Must possess a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
·         Must submit a completed application, transcript, ACT or SAT scores and a letter of recommendation from his counselor or principal.
·         Must submit an essay demonstrating school/community activities, future goals and family life information.
·         Must submit proof of financial need verified by SAR, parent’s form 1040 or court papers in guardianship cases. This will be used to make final selections. Documents are shredded following final selections.
·         Selected applicants are required to attend our annual awards luncheon and deliver a 10 minute speech. Winners will be contacted regarding further details.
·         Selected applicants may be required to take a program photo at the DOFI office.
·         Recipients must submit a copy of final grades each semester after enrolling in college.
