East English Village reaches PSL final

East English (7-1) advances to next week's championship game against Detroit King at Ford Field. Running back Desmond King led the East English with 23 carries for 167 yards and three scores.
"It was a good running game," said King. "We had to bounce everything to the outside because they were crashing down in the middle. It was amazing. Twenty-four power was working all night."
Cody scored on its first possession with DeMarco Gulley hitting Jamel Amerson for a 15-yard score with 6:38 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Gulley finished with 137 yards rushing, 187 passing and accounted for five TDs.
The Bulldogs responded with a time-consuming 66-yard drive with Anton Curtis hitting Khalid Hill for an 8-yard score with 11:55 left in the half to make it 7 all.
East English Village came up with an interception from Matthew Simpson and the offense turned the miscue into a 1-yard TD run from King to give the Bulldogs a 13-7 lead.
Cody tied the score at 13 with a 6-yard TD pass from Gulley to wide receiver Eddie Fluker.
However, Gulley was intercepted by sophomore Leon Timmons with less than 50 seconds to play in the half. Curtis hit Rico Lewis with an 11-yard slant pass for a score with 12 seconds left to give East English a 19-13 halftime lead and effectively turned the game in the Bulldogs' favor.
The Bulldogs opened the third with a 6-yard scoring pass from Curtis to King for a 25-13 lead. King then blew the game open with a 35-yard TD run to give East English a 31-13 lead with 32.1 seconds left in the third. Gulley scored on runs of 42, 6 and 5 yards to close the gap to 37-32.
