2014 Coleman A. Young Foundation Scholarship

The 2014 Coleman A. Young Foundation (CAYF) Scholarship Application is now available for download and/or completion at www.cayf.org.

The application deadline is March 5, 2014.

The CAYF Scholars Program provides scholarships to qualified Detroit youth who plan to enroll in four-year, accredited colleges in Fall 2014. The four-year award is valued up to $20,000, and is paid in annual increments of up to $5,000. To fully understand the application process and the CAYF Scholarship requirements, we request permission to meet this month with your 2014 graduating class sponsor, along with your senior class, to inform them of the Coleman A. Young Foundation Scholarship opportunity.

CAYF Scholarship applicants must be Detroit residents, seniors at a Detroit high school, first-time entrants to a four-year, fully-accredited college or university, with a minimum 2.5 grade point average. The Foundation provides mentoring, academic counseling and monitoring to its scholars through the Scholars program. This 32-year-old practice has helped 92% of CAYF Scholarship recipients graduate from college, and 60% have returned to metro Detroit to live and work.

We will follow this letter with a call to your office to schedule the visit to your school. In the meantime, please visit www.cayf.org, click “Scholars,” and then click “Apply.”
