SENIOR BULLETIN #18

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.   Seniors! You can still register for the April ACT by Friday, March 17^th.

         The cost is a fee waiver and a late fee of $24.      

2.  Seniors! Submit all letters to Ms. McClure that have to do with money!!! – that means

      scholarship award letters, TIP letters, and financial aid award letters!

3.   Seniors! You must collaborate with Ms. McClure on your scholarship essays!

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Detroit College Promise Scholarship and Detroit Scholarship Fund

.       Check with Mrs. McClure to see if you are eligible for both of these scholarships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!                       

ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships

.           GPA:                 3.0 or better

.           Must apply online at www.cgcs.org, click on Member Service-Awards and Scholarships, then click on Bernard

            Harris Math and Science Scholarship

.           Must attend a 4-yr school and pursue a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM)

.           Must have leadership skills OR community service in STEM     

.           Amount:           $5,000

.           Deadline:          Must be postmarked by……….Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Detroit Omega Foundation, Inc. (DOFI) Scholarship………………………for African-American males only

.           GPA:                 2.5 or better

.           Must attend a Historically Black College/University (HBCU)

.           Must demonstrate evidence of leadership, good citizenship, awards, activities, community involvement

.           1 recommendation

.           Essay:               2 pages: State your educational goals, your career goals, and why you feel you should be                                                 awarded this scholarship

.           Amount:           Unstated

.           Deadline:          Must be postmarked by……….Wednesday, April 15, 2015

The McNeil Scholar Program - Detroit

.           GPA:                 3.0 or better

.           Must be a Detroit resident

.           Must be able to prove financial need – provide your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)

.           Must have extracurriculars - can include community service, jobs, school activities, hobbies, sports, etc.

.           2 recommendations-describing your academic record, character, educational goals and objectives

.           Essay:               1-page, single-spaced, educational and professional goals and objectives, and your plans for

                                    attaining each

.           Amount:           $500 to $5,000 – renewable for 3 years!

.           Deadline:          Must be postmarked by………..Wednesday, April 15, 2015
