Is Detroit Public Schools Athletics still relevant?

Where have all the kids gone: the Detroit PSL’s declining enrollment

“The future of the DPS, and the PSL is going to be crucial these next five years or so,” said Detroit Martin Luther King head football coach Dale Harvel. “I started off with about 45 players on varsity last season, and ended the season in the state semifinals with only 28, so it has effected us too.”

“Luckily we have been able to overcome that, but numbers has been a problem for a long time.”
