Greetings DPS Staff!

Below, please find two very exciting contests from the Detroit Branch NAACP to share with your students! Supporting documents are also attached.

Detroit Branch NAACP 23rd Annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner Art & Essay Contest
This contest is in its 23rd year and done in partnership with Coca-Cola and DPS.  This contest is open to students in grades K-12 and a student will explain in either an art or essay form “What the Civil Rights Struggle Means to Me.”  The winners of the contest will:

·        Be recognized at reception held at the Charles H. Wright Museum
·        Receive a cash prize
·        Receive tickets to the Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner
·        Have their artwork and/or essay displayed in a gallery outside of the Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner

The deadline for entries is FridayMarch 8.
We will post the application on the Detroit Branch NAACP website and mail to schools as well.
