SENIOR BULLETIN #14

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.     Seniors!        Complete the FAFSA by March 1 to be considered for college and state grants!!!

2.     Seniors!        If you are working on a scholarship, you MUST collaborate with Mrs. McClure! 

Email all your scholarship essays to her for editing for submission.

Scholarship help is first-come, first-served! 

Submit all your essays well before the scholarship deadlines!!!!

3.     You must turn in all letters to Mrs. McClure that have to do with money -- scholarship $, TIP $, and all financial aid award letters from colleges!!

4.     Seniors: Come get your picture taken in Room E233! Many scholarships require it!!

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Detroit College Promise Scholarship and Detroit Scholarship Fund

Check with Mrs. McClure to see if you are eligible for these scholarships!! 
Michigan First Credit Union                                   

GPA:                 2.8 or better    Photo:  Headshot
Must become a member of Michigan First Credit Union
Must attend a 4-year college or university

 Essay:               300-500 wds., “How Will My Degree Help Me Improve the State of Michigan?”   
                                         OR,
Video:               60 seconds,      “How Will My Degree Help Me Improve the State of Michigan?”

Must include community and volunteer involvement, work experience, your passions

.           Amount:           $1,000 - $10,000

.       Deadline:          Must be received by         February 9, 2015

Michigan Black Bar Owners Association (MBBOA) Scholarship
GPA:                 2.50 or better

2-page essay:    “If resources were not an issue, what community need would you address-why and how?”

Resume with cover letter, and headshot photo

Must pursue business or hospitality career

Must have school activities, community service, awards, an example of your leadership

.           Amount:           $5,000

.           Deadline:          Must be received by February 16. 2015

Rosa Parks Scholarship        Get the application from Mrs. McClure
 GPA:                 3.0 or better

Must have honors and awards, extracurriculars in school, community/volunteer activities, financial need
Essay:      Segregation was the defining social issue when Rosa Parks took her historic stand. Select a social issue you think should be addressed today. How will YOU use the principles of Rosa Parks to address it?

.           Amount:           $2,000

.           Deadline:          Must be postmarked by  March 2, 2015
