Harold I. Gach Memorial Scholarship

The Office of Admissions at Michigan State University would like your assistance in promoting a scholarship opportunity for incoming freshmen from Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties who have personally battled cancer or who have been impacted by cancer through a parent who may have suffered with the disease.

Michigan State's Harold I. Gach Memorial Scholarship provides educational support for those who, like Mr. Gach, battled cancer or who, like Gach's children, have had a parent struggle with cancer. This scholarship is intended to encourage students who have the demonstrated capacity to achieve educational goals, the motivation to achieve these goals, and the initiative to seek opportunities to further their progress.

MSU encourages you to share this opportunity with any students who may be eligible to apply. The application deadline has been extended to April 15, 2014.

Please feel free to contact the MSU Office of Admissions at (517) 355-8332 if you have further questions. We appreciate your assistance.

Need Help Finding Scholarships

The good news is that there are billions of scholarship dollars out there to help you fund college. The bad news is that a lot of shady scholarship offers are designed to take your money, not help you pay for school. Below are ten common signs that a scholarship isn't legitimate.

1.    You Need to Pay to Apply
2.    You Need to Buy Something to Be Considered
3.    You Need to Attend a Seminar to Be Considerd
4.    You Won Something You Didn’t Apply For
5.    The Scholarship is “Guaranteed
6.    The Organization wants Your Credit Card Information
7.    The Application Asked for Bank Account Information
8.    “We Do All the Work”
9.    The Awarding Company is Untraceable
10. “You Can’t Get This Information Anywhere Else”
